It's not so unreasonable for the US to want a Ukraine that's independent of Russia. Sending them some weapons for self-defense and threatening Russia with sanctions sounds ok.
Since Russia sits on their border and the U.S. doesn't, who is giving Ukraine the best advice, and chance at survival???
Russia!!!
US leaders say they want democracy & freedom for Ukraine but really, they just want a proxy war with Russia, and don't care how many innocent ppl get killed.
More analogous would be if the US recently annexed Mexican territory (like Crimea) and threatened to take more. The USSR did arm Cuba (also near the US). Are we arming the Ukraine with nukes? That was America's red line with the USSR/Cuba.
Edit: Sovereignty has consequences. Too bad the USSR and Warsaw Pact were such disasters, and all the ex-members want as much independence as possible from Russia.

Russia's demands of Ukraine
1. be neutral, work with all nations
2. acknowledge Russia's annexation of Crimea
3. never join NATO
Alternative
1. they continue to fight
2. lose more land
3. more innocent ppl get killed
What does the U.S. want?
1. Ukraine stand up to Russia
2. Ukraine to join NATO
3. Ukraine get decimated

I could agree more, and in just a few minutes I’m going to be publishing my latest article that says exactly that.
So, if Russia sent Mexico military arms so that Mexico would be more independent of the US, that's all good for you?
